A devastating cloudburst and mudslide struck Uttarakhand&rsquo;s Dharali village near Harshil in Uttarkashi district on Tuesday, claiming at least four lives. Several others are feared missing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and assured complete support from the Centre. &ldquo;I have spoken to CM Pushkar Dhami ji. Relief and rescue teams are making every possible effort under the state government&rsquo;s supervision. No stone is being left unturned in assisting to the affected,&rdquo; he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Shocking videos on social media show homes being swept away by gushing floodwaters. The incident occurred around 1:45 P.M., just 4 km from the Indian Army camp at Harshil.
Brigadier Mandeep Dhillon, Brigade Commander, confirmed that the Army swiftly deployed 150 personnel, doctors, and rescue equipment within 10 minutes of the incident. So far, 20 people have been rescued, and the injured are receiving treatment.
Later, another cloudburst and mudslide struck the Army camp itself. Despite the danger, the Indian Army continues its rescue efforts without interruption, standing firm with the local population in this time of crisis.
