A tragic accident occurred near Ranasaiyed Chokdi on the Modasa&ndash;Shamlaji Highway in Aravalli district, where a private ambulance from Modasa&rsquo;s Rich Hospital suddenly caught fire. The blaze claimed the lives of four people, including a one-day-old baby.
The newborn was being transported to Orange Hospital in Ahmedabad for advanced treatment. Six individuals were inside the ambulance at the time: the infant, a doctor, a nurse, a family member and two others.
<h3 dir="ltr">Sudden fire causes panic</h3>
The vehicle burst into flames without warning near Ranasaiyed Chokdi, creating widespread panic. The driver and one family member sitting in the front managed to escape unharmed. However, four people seated in the rear, the doctor, nurse, the newborn and another relative, were trapped and died instantly.
Two severely injured passengers were rushed to AIMS Hospital in Modasa. One of them later succumbed to injuries, taking the total death count to four.
<h3 dir="ltr">The ambulance burned within seconds</h3>
CCTV footage from the area shows the ambulance turning into a fireball in moments. The fire spread rapidly, reducing the entire vehicle to ashes within seconds.
The Modasa Municipal Fire Department reached the spot quickly and brought the flames under control. Modasa Town Police have started an investigation, sent the bodies for postmortem and initiated the process of filing a case. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
