A tragic accident has occurred on the Mumbai-Goa Highway in Maharashtra. A car plunged into the Jagbudi River, resulting in the death of five passengers, while the driver was seriously injured.
Reports state that all occupants of the car were traveling from Mira Road in Mumbai to attend a funeral in Devrukh, Ratnagiri. Near the Jagbudi River on the highway, the driver lost control, causing the car to veer off the road and fall into the river. All five passengers died on the spot, while the driver sustained critical injuries.
Upon receiving information about the incident, local residents gathered and immediately informed the police. The police arrived promptly, admitted the injured driver to a hospital, and sent the bodies for postmortem.
Earlier, on April 28, a road accident occurred in Bhandara, Maharashtra, where four people lost their lives and one was seriously injured. This horrific crash took place near Bela village on the Mumbai-Kolkata National Highway. A Bolero traveling from Raipur to Nagpur was hit by a speeding truck coming from Nagpur. Of the five occupants, four died while the driver was seriously injured.
In recent weeks, several road accidents have occurred in Maharashtra. On April 18, a BMC garbage truck overturned on the Eastern Express Highway in Mumbai&rsquo;s Chembur area, killing one laborer and injuring two others.
Prior to that, on April 15, a collision on the Khamgaon-Nandura Highway in Buldhana district claimed three lives and injured 20. The accident involved a bus operated by the Madhya Pradesh Transport Corporation and a truck loaded with bricks.
