Gandhinagar authorities have uncovered a major financial fraud totalling Rs 93.57 lakh at Anushree Outsource, a local manpower supply firm. Investigations revealed that a former supervisor and his sister allegedly diverted company funds by creating fake employees and depositing salaries into accounts under their control.
The firm, owned by Mukesh Kalawadiya, provides contractual staff to government and private offices across Gujarat, employing 800&ndash;900 workers through outsourcing. Discrepancies surfaced when routine salary oversight detected payments to individuals who were never employed by the company.
Bank verification confirmed that the accounts used for these payments were registered in the names of the supervisor, his sister, and relatives, despite the salary sheets containing genuine employee names. Audits showed Rs 44.27 lakh was misappropriated in 2022&ndash;23 and Rs 44.30 lakh in 2023&ndash;24. A total of 16 fake employees were identified.
Further investigation revealed forged authorisation letters and the use of personal email IDs to instruct banks to process the fraudulent salary transfers.
Gandhinagar police have filed cases against the accused under charges of cheating, forgery, and criminal breach of trust. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities reviewing bank records and internal audits to ensure no further irregularities.
The scam has raised concerns about financial oversight in outsourcing firms, highlighting the need for stronger internal controls and audit mechanisms.
