Currently, 156 individuals are receiving treatment in various government hospitals across the state after consuming the illicit alcohol.&nbsp;
The Kallakurichi Government Medical College Hospital alone is treating 110 patients, twelve persons are admitted at Puducherry, 20 persons are undergoing treatment at Salem and four in Villupuram government hospitals.
Authorities have reported that seven individuals, including five men and two women, have been discharged from hospitals after receiving treatment for consuming illicit liquor. Among the fatalities, 32 deaths occurred at the Government Kallakurichi Medical College and Hospital, 18 at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital in Salem, four at the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital, and three at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) in Puducherry.
In response to the tragedy, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced significant support measures during an Assembly session. The state government will cover the entire educational and hostel expenses for children who have lost one or both parents in the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy. 
Children who have lost both parents will receive Rs 5,000 monthly assistance until they turn 18, along with a Rs 5 lakh fixed deposit immediately. Similarly, children who lost one parent will receive Rs 3 lakh as a fixed deposit.
Meanwhile, the CB-CID of Tamil Nadu Police has initiated an investigation into the incident, with seven arrests made so far. The probe is under the supervision of SP Shantharam, following the transfer of the case to CB-CID for thorough investigation.
In response to the tragedy, opposition parties have voiced criticism against the DMK-led state government. AIADMK leaders, including party General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami, held a protest in Kallakurichi district on Monday, demanding accountability from the government. Palaniswami criticized the government's handling of the crisis, highlighting discrepancies in the availability of medical supplies for treatment.
The protest underscored growing political tension over the hooch tragedy, with opposition leaders calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Stalin and alleging connections between the sale of illicit liquor and individuals affiliated with the ruling DMK party. 
The AIADMK leaders plan to submit a petition to Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, emphasizing the seriousness of the issue and demanding immediate action from the state government.
