With his 50th film which has been directed by the well known Nithilam Saminathan, Vijay Sethupathi is taking immense delight in the success of the film. Movie goers claim &ldquo;Maharaja emerges as a fully engaging emotional thriller setting a new benchmark for storytelling in contemporary cinema.&rdquo; This movie has broken box office records both domestic and international. The film released on 14th June and has garnered praises from skeptics since then. This film stars Anurag Kashyap, Sachana Namidass, Mamta Mohandas, Abhirami, Aruldoss which has piqued the audience&rsquo;s interest even more. Latest information from the producers show that this film has successfully made $1 million in UAE and around 1 million Malaysian Ringgits in Malaysia along with being the highest grossing film in the United States&nbsp;
The film has a 35.48% occupancy rate of Tamils, as of June 22. This itself brought in about Rs 5 crore of revenue in total. Talking about its international success, the film made as high as Rs 18 crore there and around Rs 48 crore in India as a whole. All this combined, the gross revenue comes down to Rs 66 crore. Owing to all this, Vijay Sethupathi conveyed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the audience within and outside Kerala for their constant love and support for the film. To celebrate the success of this film, he came to Thiruvananthapuram at Lulu Mall to celebrate this grand victory.&nbsp;
The film&rsquo;s appreciation among the watchers led to tickets being sold out in no time all over Kerala. What was screened in only 100 theaters at first increased to more than 175 within another week after its initial release.&nbsp;
Nithilan Saminathan also said that many of the viewers said that this film had the essence of Malayalam cinema to some extent. He further went on to say that people might have felt this way mostly because he does take a lot of inspiration from Malayalam films which has been well received by audiences throughout Kerala.
