Several schools in Ahmedabad and Noida were placed on high alert on Friday after receiving bomb threats via email, just days ahead of Republic Day. The incidents led to emergency security checks, temporary closures, and heightened concern among parents and authorities.
In Ahmedabad, multiple schools reported receiving threatening emails early in the morning. The city&rsquo;s crime branch immediately deployed bomb disposal units and forensic teams to the affected campuses. Officials said thorough searches are underway and no suspicious objects have been found so far. Investigators are working to trace the origin of the emails.
In Noida, the threats forced several prominent schools to shut for the day. Shiv Nadar School announced a complete closure after receiving a bomb threat email, stating that a full security sweep would be conducted as a precaution. School buses were turned back, and parents were asked to collect their children from designated drop-off points.
Cambridge School also received a similar threat, after which parents were alerted and told to pick up their children immediately. Bal Bharati School was placed on high alert as well. While no official reason was initially shared with parents, pre-primary classes, including Nursery, LKG and UKG, were dismissed. Other sections continued temporarily due to staggered schedules and bus routes, with further instructions awaited.
Noida police said senior officers, along with teams from local police stations, bomb disposal squads, fire services, dog units and BDDS teams, were rushed to all affected locations. Each campus is being thoroughly checked to rule out any threat.
At the same time, the cyber crime unit has begun a technical analysis of the threatening emails to trace their source and identify those responsible. Authorities have assured parents that all necessary safety measures are being taken and urged the public to remain calm while investigations continue.
The coordinated threats, coming so close to Republic Day, have raised broader security concerns across both cities. Police have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found issuing hoax threats or attempting to spread panic.

The move comes after Trump had recently appeared to soften his tone on military action, saying he had received assurances from Iranian authorities that no further executions of protesters would take place.
Despite that earlier de-escalation, Trump has now reaffirmed that military preparations are ongoing. He also repeated his claim that previous US threats had prevented Iran from carrying out mass executions during recent unrest, and said he remains open to talks with Tehran&rsquo;s leadership.
Trump warned that any renewed effort by Iran to restart its nuclear program would trigger a US response. He referenced past American air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, carried out during a brief regional conflict involving Israel, as an example of how Washington would act if it believed red lines were crossed.
Iran, meanwhile, has rejected claims that it plans to execute protesters arrested during widespread anti-government demonstrations. Those protests, which erupted in late December, resulted in thousands of deaths, according to Iranian state media.
Tehran has also issued its own warnings. Iran&rsquo;s foreign minister said that the country would respond forcefully to any new attack, describing such retaliation not as a threat but as a reality of self-defense. He cautioned that a full-scale confrontation would be long, brutal and destabilizing for the wider region, with consequences that would extend well beyond the Middle East.
With warships moving into position and rhetoric hardening on both sides, the situation remains volatile. While Washington insists it prefers diplomacy, the growing military presence underscores how quickly tensions with Iran could spiral into a broader conflict.

While Ukraine has publicly welcomed the initiative, there was no immediate response from Russia regarding participation. The United States, however, signaled cautious optimism. Trump characterized his meeting with Zelenskyy as constructive, while emphasizing that the path to ending the war remains an ongoing process.
US envoy Steve Witkoff, who has been involved in shuttle diplomacy between the parties, said significant progress has been made and that negotiations have narrowed down to one unresolved issue. Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Witkoff expressed confidence that the remaining obstacle could be resolved if all sides remain committed.

Delhi Police has registered a fresh FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the chief of the pro-Khalistan group Sikh For Justice (SFJ), following his alleged threat to create unrest in the national capital ahead of Republic Day on January 26. The action was taken after Pannun released a video on social media in which he warned of disturbances in Delhi and claimed involvement in anti-India activities.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police initiated the case after Pannun&rsquo;s video surfaced online, in which he allegedly threatened to disrupt peace and spread instability in the city before the national celebrations. Authorities have accused him of conspiring against India and endangering the country&rsquo;s sovereignty, unity, and integrity.
An FIR has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 152 and 61, which deal with acts threatening the sovereignty and integrity of India and criminal conspiracy. In addition, Sections 196 and 197 have also been invoked for promoting enmity between groups and making statements that could harm national unity.
In his video message, Pannun claimed that sleeper cells of his organization had pasted pro-Khalistan posters in residential areas such as Rohini and Dabri in Delhi. He alleged that these actions were part of a larger plan to demonstrate the group&rsquo;s presence and influence in the capital.
Following this claim, the Delhi Police Special Cell conducted extensive searches in the mentioned areas. However, no such posters or any objectionable material were found during the operation. Police officials believe the claim was likely an attempt to create psychological pressure and spread fear rather than a reflection of actual on-ground activity.
Investigations are currently underway to assess the full scope of the alleged conspiracy and to trace any possible links or local contacts. Authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone found attempting to disturb public order or threaten national security, especially during sensitive occasions like Republic Day.

Weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled throughout the day. The forecast points to a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of light rain, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds during the early and forenoon hours. Another round of very light to light rain is likely towards the afternoon and evening.
In addition to the orange alert, a yellow alert is also in place for the day. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are expected across multiple time slots from morning to night. Authorities have advised people to stay updated on weather developments and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of strong winds and storms.
Shallow fog is also likely during the morning hours, which could reduce visibility on roads. Commuters have been urged to drive carefully and allow extra time for travel as weather conditions continue to fluctuate.

Under the National Clean Ganga Mission, special cleanliness management measures, including 28,000 toilets, have been implemented at a cost of &nbsp;₹ 152.37 crore for Mahakumbh 2025. 
These initiatives combine modern technology with traditional practices to ensure a clean and sustainable environment for the event, the Jal Shakti Ministry said in a statement on Friday. 
Maintaining the purity of the Ganga, effective waste management, and creating plastic-free zones are top priorities for the organisation of Mahakumbh 2025.&nbsp;
The event is being presented as a benchmark for environmental responsibility, with a strong emphasis on maintaining cleanliness throughout the fair area. 
Over 28,000 toilets, including 12,000 Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) toilets equipped with septic tanks and 16,100 prefabricated steel toilets with soak pits, have been installed across the fairgrounds. These toilets aim to promote an eco-friendly approach while ensuring cleanliness. 
Additionally, 20,000 community urinals have been set up to ensure a comfortable and hygienic experience for devotees while promoting eco-friendly practices. 
To ensure effective waste management in the event area, 20,000 trash bins have been installed to help segregate waste at the source, while encouraging its reuse and recycling. To further streamline waste collection and disposal, 37.75 lakh liner bags have been provided. 
This well-organised waste management system will keep the event area clean and eco-friendly. The strategies adopted for Mahakumbh 2025 will not only set high standards for cleanliness but also demonstrate the country's commitment to environmental sustainability, the Ministry said in a statement. 
Mahakumbh 2025 is not just a religious event but a model example of environmental conservation and cleanliness. It highlights the efforts of the government towards maintaining the purity of the Ganga, sustainable waste management, and creating plastic-free zones. 
Through this sacred event, awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection will be raised in society. This cleanliness initiative for Mahakumbh 2025 will inspire not only the present generation but also future ones.&nbsp;
