United States&rsquo; Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker will visit New Delhi and Bengaluru from December 7 to 11, in a move aimed at strengthening US-India relations.
During the visit, Under Secretary Hooker will focus on advancing the US-India strategic partnership, deepening economic and commercial ties, including boosting American exports, and promoting collaboration in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and space exploration.
In New Delhi, she is scheduled to meet senior Indian officials to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, and shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific, including through consultations with the Foreign Secretary. In Bengaluru, Hooker will visit the Indian Space Research Organisation and meet leaders from India&rsquo;s space, energy, and technology sectors to foster innovation and explore opportunities for expanded US-India research partnerships.
The visit represents a step forward in advancing the US administration&rsquo;s priorities for a strong bilateral partnership and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The discussions come after India and the US jointly condemned terrorism in all its forms and reiterated their commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation to counter terrorism, including in the UN, Quad, and Financial Action Task Force. The two countries recently held the 21st meeting of the India-US Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism and the 7th Designations Dialogue.
Both nations called for additional designations of ISIS, Al-Qa&rsquo;ida affiliates, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and associated proxy groups under the UN 1267 sanctions regime, ensuring global asset freezes, travel bans, and arms embargoes. They also strongly condemned past terror attacks, including incidents in Pahalgam in April and near the Red Fort in November, emphasizing that those responsible must be held accountable.
The engagements underscore the breadth of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and highlight bilateral cooperation in security, trade, and technology.
